Say Hello to the $60 Bottle of Fosters
No, my friends. That is most certainly not a typo. News.Com.Au is reporting that Fosters is rolling out a new “luxury” brew known as Crown Ambassador Reserve. The lager marks the 55th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation and is a limited release of only 5,000 champagne-style bottles.
The launch emulates a similar move in 1954, when the premium beer market was pioneered with the announcement Crown Lager would be made available to the public upon the Queen’s first visit to the country.
Previously Crown Lager had been reserved for aristocracy and visiting dignitaries since its inception in 1919.
There wasn’t much else in the article about the beer itself and nothing at all on FostersBeer.com about the brew, so no word yet on whether it will be making its way across the ocean to the states. So, until then, I’ll stick to my Fosters oil cans while I try to devise a scheme to explain why I need a $60 bottle of beer to my wife, just in case I see one sitting on a store shelf one day.

I hereby promise to never spend $60 on a lager.
