Landshark Lager: Fins to the left, Fins to the right…

The parrothead tailgating season is right around the corner, so the timing’s right for a national rollout of Anheuser-Busch / Jimmy Buffett’s Landshark Lager.
“Fin’s Up! The refreshing, drinkable island lager is now available not only in coastal resorts and Margaritaville Restaurants, but also at a local watering hole near you. Leveraging the true meaning of Margaritaville, Land Shark Lager instantly transforms you to an island lifestyle where good friends, good times, good food and great beer are a way of life. Put yourself in an island state of mind and visit www.landsharklager.com to find a retailer near you!”
Now, I love Buffett and forked over my $7.50 for a bottle at last year’s show at the Tweeter Center in Camden, but I was underwhelmed. If I’m looking for lime-infused beer, I’m still going to pony up for Corona and a freshly cut lime. But, if you’re looking for a quick fix and don’t feel like slicing and dicing up a few limes, this isn’t a bad second-tier option.
Here’s what people are saying about Landshark Lager:
united-nations-of-beer.com “It doesn’t overpower. It does its job well without bitterness or malice. And after you’ve had two or three or four, they begin to taste pretty darned good.”
ratebeer.com “5 - Refreshing, drinkable island lager. Found in 4.7% and 4.0% variants.”
The Beer Snob “Do not buy this beer. Sure, if you’re a Parrothead, you may want to help put more money in Bubba’s pockets in return for the years of music and fun. Do it some other way. Bubba, I’d love to buy you a couple of beers. First, a Landshark Lager, so you can see what is being sold in your name. Second, a good lager, so you can see what is possible.”
FuzzMartin.com “The beer was okay. Actually, it was pretty blah. I’m not saying it was terrible, but if I were Jimmy Buffett, I don’t know if I would want to slap my name all over it. That’s all I’m saying.”

[…] blessing. If you haven’t tried it, it’s basically Bud with a touch of lime. Or, as I posted up back in February, it’s a slightly limey beer for those too lazy to slice […]
Landshark does not have lime in the beer. Obviously you never tried it in the first place so why write about it. Come on…… Tasty brew
Thanks for checking out the blog… I had a couple Landsharks at last year’s Buffett show and, while it wasn’t overpowering, there definitely was a hint of lime. I really was bummed with the beer because I had been looking forward to it and, after paying $7 a bottle at the show, it just didn’t distinguish itself enough to justify the buzz nor did I think it was worthy of the Buffett stamp of approval. Just one man’s opinion…
